Is it in English?

Yes. Written in plain modern English — no Hebrew required and no prior knowledge assumed.

Is this Jewish or Christian?

Jewish, through and through. It retells the Five Books of Moses — the foundational text of Judaism — and it's made by Jews, for the Jewish home.

What is a "modern retelling"?

The stories of the Torah told in plain English, the way you'd tell them out loud. It is not a translation, it is not for study, and it does not replace any Torah you own or anything you'd read in shul.

I go to shul every week — why would I need this?

That's exactly the point. This isn't a replacement for shul or for anything you already do. It's an entryway for the people who were never going to walk in — and for anyone who just wants to be proud of being Jewish. If one more person picks it up and feels moved to read a little more, that's a win.

Isn't modernizing the Torah a problem?

Nothing here touches or changes the Torah itself. It's a retelling of the stories for people who never had an accessible way in. Most modern Jews have never actually read them — not because they don't care, but because nobody made it approachable.

Who is it for?

Any Jew, and anyone curious about these stories. Men, women, families, kids reading with a parent. There is no prerequisite.

Is it right for children?

It's written for adults, but families read it together. From around nine and up it works well as a shared read.

Who wrote it?

Written and adapted by the Toyrah team and published by Toyrah Inc. A practicing Orthodox rabbi reviewed the manuscript before publication — every page read aloud against the source text before we signed off. He asked to remain private, and we've honored that.

Why is it spelled "Toyrah"?

On purpose, and it's two things at once. Partly out of respect — we didn't want to use the sacred word itself as a commercial brand name, so the extra "Y" creates distance. And it's how many of us actually say it.

Is this the only edition?

Yes — this is a single First Edition print run, premium matte laminate finish, 256 pages. When it shows sold out, that means we're between print runs of this same edition, not a different one.

When will my order ship?

Orders placed before September 22, 2026 ship from stock on hand. Orders placed on or after September 22, 2026 ship in late October 2026. You'll get an email with tracking the moment your order leaves the warehouse.

What if my book arrives damaged?

Reply to your order confirmation with a photo of the damage and packaging — we'll make it right with a replacement or refund.
